Meet Axel
Most villagers have never heard Axel speak. He has no known family, and no one knows where he lives. The villagers know that Axel hasn’t always been a part of their settlement, but none of them can remember a time before he was there, either. When you ask them to give you a timeline of Axel’s integration into the village, they just get confused and forget what you asked them.
When Axel is around, things tend to go missing. Sometimes it’s jewelry, sometimes it’s a pie from a window, and sometimes it’s an entire cow. It’s happened too many times to be a coincidence, but no one has ever been able to prove it’s him.
While he’s never caused any outright harm, the villagers agree that when Axel’s around, they’re stricken with a sense of unease. Is Axel even his real name?
