Racers Sheena Monk and Katherine Legge to compete in Motul Course de Monterey powered by Hyundai N aboard JG Wentworth-backed car
CHESTERBROOK, Pa., May 12, 2023
Industry-leading consumer financial services company JG Wentworth announced today that race car drivers Sheena Monk and Katherine Legge, who are contesting the full WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the GTD (Grand Touring Daytona) class aboard the JG Wentworth-backed No. 66 Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 will be competing at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca 2023 IMSA Motul Course de Monterey powered by Hyundai N this Saturday, May 13th in Salinas, California.
Last month at their race in Long Beach, New York the team placed ninth in a great recovery despite losing over 30 seconds after a multiple car tangle at the hairpin turn. The duo was the first all-female team in the history of the race. The Long Beach track was where Katherine Legge won the opening round 18 years ago of the Toyota Atlantic series in 2005. This year, in only her second qualifying race, Monk had the vital role of opening for the team.
After nearly making podium at the 24 hours of Daytona, and a solid performance at Sebring, along with an impressive recovery at Long Beach – Monk and Legge are all prepped to showcase their talents this weekend in California. The current drivers’ standings have Monk and Legge at sixth place – competing against 15 others in the GTD category. The Laguna Seca race will be the 5th race of the 12 scheduled this season.
With 11 turns (along with the signature one-of-a-kind downhill plunging “Corkscrew” at Turns 8, 8A) the Laguna Seca, which is Spanish for dry lagoon, is expected to be attended by tens of thousands. This year, the crowds will be joined by JG Wentworth’s own representatives who will be present at the race with various gifts and goodies for the attending audience.
Regarding JG Wentworth’s continued support of the team, Chief Customer Acquisition Officer Megan Parzych stated “Sheena and Katherine are breaking barriers this year at WeatherTech being the only all-female team. Their partnership and support of each other through this past year reflects the values we treasure at JGW. Together they’ve overcome monumental barriers and rallied together. We wish them the absolute best of luck in Salinas.”
