Before You Call

You don't have to have a lot of information before you give us a call, but having files on hand regarding your payments can help our team answer your questions more quickly.

Your representative will need to know these few things:

  • The name of the insurance company that  issues your structured settlement or annuity payments.

  • Basic information about your payments

    • The amount of each payment

    • How often you receive them

    • How many payments remain on your policy

  • The amount of money you need to meet your goals

If you’re not sure where to get this information, a good place to look is your benefits letter or annuity contract. These documents will come from your insurance company and have all of the information you need.

If you’re unable to find the paperwork, don’t worry! Your representative will walk you through how to obtain another copy.

Questions We Might Ask You

To provide you with an accurate quote, your representative will ask you a few questions so that they can create an offer that will best meet your needs. Some of the questions they will ask include:

  • How did you receive your settlement? We understand that this can be a very sensitive question. We don't need a lot of specific details–just the type of claim that led to your settlement. We’ve seen it all and we’re here to help you overcome financial challenges.

  • Is this your first time selling payments? You can still get a second lump sum if you previously sold some of your payments. However, we will need to know about any previous sales so we can make sure we can quote you accurately.

How We Form a Quote

Is there a lump sum that you’d like to receive from selling a portion of your payments? While many factors are involved in the calculation, including the amount of each payment, the frequency of the payments, and when you are scheduled to receive them, our representatives will reach out to discuss what can be done to get the lump sum you need to reach your goals. Simply tell us how much you need, and we’ll give you an estimate for what you could receive for your payments.

If you called JG Wentworth in the past but decided not to accept any of our offers, your quote this time will likely be different. Why is that? One of the main reasons that your quote will change has to do with the time value of money.

Quote Types

The amount you will be quoted will depend on your financial goals. Do you want to keep some payments coming in or do you just want the highest lump sum you can receive?

Every offer is unique, but there are three basic ways you can sell your future payments:

  • Full Buyout: Sell all your remaining payments for a single lump sum

  • Partial Payment: Sell a portion of each payment

  • Sell Some of Your Payments: Sell the full amount of your payments for a period of time and keep the rest

Receiving Your Quote

Once your representative has the information they need, they will build you a quote. They will frequently be able to have your quote ready that same day and will go over it with you over the phone.

Is this an additional sale of structured settlement payments? What insurance company issues your checks? Knowing the answers to these questions will expedite the process as you work with your representative.

Comparing Your Lump Sum Options

You will likely receive more than one quote from your representative. Whether it’s selling a group of payments or just a portion of them, we want to give you choices for how you access your money. That way, you can pick a solution that fulfills your financial needs.

If we did not get it right the first time, or if your needs change and you want more (or less) money, let your representative know. We will update your quote and give you new options. Since we already have your information in our system, you can typically receive an updated quote on the same day it is requested.

Accepting an Offer

It is important that you completely understand what you are hearing from your representative. They will go over every detail of your offer and answer any questions you may have. Then it is up to you to decide if selling your payments is the right choice for you.

If your quote is a good match for your needs, all you need to do is contact our representative and let them know. They will use your quote to create a contract that will allow us to buy your future payments.

Remember, contacting JG Wentworth and getting your quote is always free. We do not charge you for the call, and if you decide you do not want a lump sum, or if we cannot build an option that suits your needs, you are under no obligation to accept an offer.
