Description:

DevOps or TechOps, short for development operations/technical operations, is the area of IT systems management that deals with the complexities of contemporary applications and the systems that support them. DevOps engineering includes application deployment, management, maintenance, configuration and repair. The DevOps team at J.G Wentworth works collaboratively with development teams to continually improve processes following a DevOps methodology. 

Associate Duties:

  • Supports web systems by installing, configuring, and testing servers and software
  • Maintains web environments by running code builds and deployments
  • Monitors health checks and system performance against industry standard operating policies and procedures
  • Ensures compliance of predetermined policies and procedures for software delivery
  • Prioritizes and escalates incoming support issues from external parties
System Administrator Duties:
  • Establishes web system by executing the installation, configuration and testing of server hardware, software, operating system and application management systems
  • Maintains web environments by automating code building, site deployments and site updates, configuration of health checks and enforcement of system and operational policies and procedures
  • Notifies of web system performance by performing system monitoring and performance tuning and by troubleshooting system hardware, software and web applications
  • Secures web system by implementing system access controls, ensuring proper backup procedures are in place and functioning, and maintaining documentation
  • Ability to complete Windows server patching 
System Engineer Duties:
  • Establishes web system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration and testing of server hardware, software, operating system and application management systems
  • Maintains web environments by automating code building, site deployments and site updates, configuration of health checks and enforcement of system and operational policies and procedures
  • Ensures web system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis and performance tuning and by troubleshooting system hardware, software and web applications
  • Secures web system by implementing system access controls, testing disaster recovery policies, ensuring proper backup procedures are in place and functioning, and maintaining documentation

Required Skills

Mastery-level knowledge of common web server platforms and components, including but not limited to:

  • Web and application servers: Apache, IIS, Tomcat (WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss)
  • Windows server and enterprise Linux operating systems (Red Hat, SUSE, Ubuntu)
  • Experience with Public Cloud Hosting providers: Microsoft Azure, Rackspace Cloud
  • Scripting languages: At least one scripting language from PowerShell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl and other
  • Familiarity with DevOps, web development life cycle, source control systems, continuous integration, change management and task-tracking tools
  • Examples: GIT, Subversion, Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, MSBuild, JIRA, Confluence, Solr, MongoDB
