It started out as a typical birthday celebration. Calvin S. and some friends went
out to a well-known Los Angeles club for a night of celebrating. At the end of the
evening, as they were waiting for a cab, Calvin was the object of an unprovoked
attack by an employee of the club. When Calvin awoke in the hospital, he had a shattered
shoulder and other injuries.
Before the incident, Calvin worked as a probation officer in L.A. County. Due to

Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, he was forced to evacuate to Houston, leaving
behind his properties, which were only a couple of blocks from the historic French
Quarter.
Katrina not only destroyed the city of New Orleans, but also all of Calvin's properties.
Even though he had accumulated assets, he and his family had to move into a shelter.
Calvin felt trapped. That's when he saw commercials for J.G. Wentworth. He could

got his family out of the shelter to begin life anew.
