Hi everyone. J.G. Wentworth here.
You know, there are many contradictions in this world. For instance, the stock market will often go down on good news and up on bad . . .The president of the United States is often elected without a majority of votes . . .The uglier a piece of art, the more it’s worth . . .
It’s within this framework that I often think about opera. Truth be told, opera is not that popular as a form of music. I’m not saying there are no fans, just not a lot.
So then, how do you explain the popularity of our commercial called “Opera” where a troupe of Vikings is singing about structured settlement payments?
The phone calls, letters and emails I received about that commercial were overwhelming. “I can’t get that song out of my head,” said one. “I was singing Opera in the shower,” said another. “I called 877-CASH NOW even though I didn’t have a structured settlement!” said yet another caller.
That’s why I did another Opera commercial. In certain ways I felt we just had to. And rather than a stage, I told the folks who produced the commercial to put the singer on a municipal bus. My thinking was, let’s make opera more accessible to the people!
By gosh, I think it worked, because the calls and letters for “Opera II” are starting to roll in, just like before. Take a look here for yourself.
