Team Wentworth

by admin 3. August 2010 03:46

We continue to hire new account reps and work on getting in tip-top form to handle all the business we’ve gotten from new customers.

But it’s not just the company getting into shape.  We’ve got a group of employees preparing to run in the upcoming Philadelphia Marathon.

I was happy to foot the bill for the creation of Team Wentworth at this event.  As you may know, our company has a long tradition of marathon running.  We’ve taken teams to London, New York, Dublin, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Chicago.  Over the years I’ve found fielding a company team helps build leadership skills, a sense of unity and group accomplishment.

Also, I like to think there’s a customer service benefit too.  Yes, a healthy body equals a healthy mind.  But heck, after our employees run 26 miles, helping customers with their structured settlements and annuities will seem easy!

Nomadic Nation's World Cup Trek

by admin 20. May 2010 03:44

Hi everyone.  J.G. Wentworth here.

You know, since we started out we’ve provided nearly $4 billion in funding to our customers.  Most of the time, we buy payment streams from structured settlements and annuities to provide cash for folks who need it to pay bills, buy a house or go back to school.  But occasionally, we provide cash to those who want to pursue a dream.  (not to be confused with annuity loans and structured settlement loans)

That’s the case with our customer Jonathan Velasco.  He sold his structured settlement payments to participate in the World Cup Trek.

Never heard of it?  You will.  It’s an amazing 8000 mile charity drive from Berlin to Cape Town for the 2010 World Cup, and more importantly, to aid the children of Africa.

Jonathan’s journey started on May 17, and if all goes well he and his team will arrive in Cape Town South Africa before the World Cup kicks off on June 11.

We’re so fascinated by the entire concept that not only did we buy Jonathan’s payments so that he could participate, but we are now one of the sponsors of the event!

Learn more about Jonathan and his exploits by visiting nomadicnation.org for pictures, video, tweets and more.  Plus, I’ll be using my blog here to provide periodic updates.

And remember whether need cash for everyday expenses or you want to purse a dream, we’re always here for you.

New Batter on Deck!

by admin 6. May 2010 04:10

Hey folks.  J.G. Wentworth here.

You have probably seen our new commercial with baseball players standing around the pitcher’s mound during a game talking about structured settlements and annuities.

Now I have it on good authority that baseball players don’t talk about structured settlements and annuities.  That’s right, J.G. Wentworth’s new Chief Information Officer, Dan Hayes, was a real life slugger.  Dan was a high school star who went to college on a full baseball scholarship and was then recruited into the Baltimore Orioles farm system.  While Dan decided not to swing for majors, his professional experience was good enough for me, so I asked him:  “Dan, what do you all talk about when you are gathered around the pitcher’s mound?”

He said if it’s a tight game, they talk about the likelihood men on base will steal and the hitting proclivities of the batter.  If it’s not a tight game, he said that players talk about where the pretty girls are sitting in the stands.  I just knew it wasn’t all business out there!

Anyway, if you read the press release we issued on Dan, you’ll know see that he’s all business, with stints as the Chief Technology or Information Officer for a variety of firms.  In addition, he was a co-founder of insurance giant Kemper’s Home and Auto Group.

I can tell you, Dan didn’t get here a moment to soon.  As the largest buyer of structured settlement and annuity payments in the United States, we’ve got lots of information.  And now, with Dan Hayes, we’ve got just the right person to help us manage it!

Spring Has Sprung

by admin 20. April 2010 03:58

Hi all.  J.G. Wentworth here.

I’ve been watching the thawing snow and it got me to thinking that no matter where you live in this great country of ours – even in the southern states – it’s been a tough winter.  Flooding, frost, blizzards, and ice storms are just the beginning.

But I think that’s all behind us now and we are entering what is my favorite part of the year:  Spring.

Yep, baseball players are warming up in Florida, people are out in their yards on weekends talking to neighbors, and school kids are getting itchy because they can taste the end of the school year.

Like many people I like spring because it represents a new beginning of sorts.  In many ways that’s exactly why I started this company so many years ago.  That is, many folks go through a rough patch with their finances . . . a winter of their discontent, so to speak . . . and I wanted to give them a chance for a new beginning.

Well, 50,000 transactions and $4 billion later, I’d like to think that we’ve helped a lot of people put a little spring in their step.  But our work is far from over.  To put a twist on an old saying, if spring is here . . . can winter be far behind?

Call us anytime folks.  We’re here to help.

Time to Put Away the Quill

by admin 13. April 2010 10:29

Hi everyone.  J.G. Wentworth here.

I have to admit to some small degree of vanity.

Because of that I won’t tell you my age.  But I will offer up that I’ve seen a great deal of changes in my lifetime.  For instance, back when I started out, if I wanted to get more than one copy of a letter out, I used something called carbon paper.

Many advances truly amaze me.  For instance I’m astounded that I can communicate to you all at once through a blog quickly, easily and at almost no cost.

But let’s forget about the Gee Whiz factor for now.  A long time ago someone said to me, “Wentworth, if you are given a voice, use it.”  And that’s what I intend to do with this blog.  Use my voice to tell you about things I think may be important to you.

I’ll be writing about money, finance, structured settlements and annuities.  Hopefully you’ll find my posts useful. I might also share some observations about life and the world we live in.  But those posts will be few and far between.

The good news is the young people guiding me in this venture tell me that it’s dynamic, and we can change the content anytime.  But that’s up to you.  If you have questions, comments or want to read something else, just drop me a – oops –

I mean send me an email . . .  jgwentworth@jgwentworth.com
